MIDI Clock Sync Delay in Live

Hi

I can’t seem to make the clock value in Ableton have any effect on the A4. As you can see from the screen shot I am trying to effect a delay of -40ms. When I print the audio it is still out of time.

A4 settings under Global > MIDI Config > MIDI Sync:

Clock Receive = checked
(nothing else checked)

From what I can gather, the timing correction actually delays Ableton rather than do anything to the timing of your A4. So the -40ms applied will delay Ableton triggering anything by -40ms in order to line up with the latency delay of the A4. Technically, all your Ableton work will now be delayed by -40ms.

That’s my limited understanding anyways.

Looking at your image, I do my did my compensation globally, not just on the A4 in the menu you’ve used.
