Midi CC

Really need some help with this.

I finally got Octatrack controlling the Tanzbar so i can trigger all the sounds on the Tanz via Octa (which is great for micro shifting the swing etc). But when I set a midi CC parameter (to whatever corresponds in the Tanzbar midi control chart, say CC74 for decay on a hi hat) - I get nothing.

Any ideas?

Are you making sure you assigning the channels and CC by pressing / lcicking on the knobs?

Im going into the cc edit screen and setting the relevant CC no in there, then clicking yes to assign…

Its annoying as the CC worked fine via Octatrack and the Cheetah MS6.

I got this working at some point. Are you sure you’re sending MIDI CC on the right channel? As I recall it’s something different than the channel you send note on messages with. Check the manual

thanks for letting me know…

okay…so im setting track 1 to midi channel 3 as this gets me the sounds out of Tanzbar…Is there some other midi area in Octa for CC?

After you assign a MIDI parameter to one of the encoders on the setup page, you have to click it to activate it. Sounds like you know that, but after that step you need to hold Function and then click the same encoder on the main MIDI CC page to officially activate it.

thanks for the help so far…but still joyless in getting this to work

Octatrack - midi channel 3 (the only way i can hear sounds out of the Tanzbar when triggered in Octa)

Octatrack - midi cc - set the parameter for hi hat decay, press the knob to confirm…hit function and press same knob to active…

Octatrack - adjust the damn knob, expect a change in decay…sweet FA

tbh i think its impossible to Tanzbar to receive midi cc info to change parameters…fraustrating

The manual says midi controller 10 is used for midi controller data in Tanzbar…But where do you set this in Octatrack? There is no sound when i specify midi channel 10, only sound in midi channel 3…So confusing

ahhh problem solved!

Getting Octatrack to control tanzbar requires 2 midi tracks. Midi [color=navy]track one (set to midi channel 3) for programming the triggers/pattern and another midi track set to channel 10 to send CC (great for controlling decay etc).

This way is nice for deeper control of swing (microshifting either way on Octa), velocity and (in my mind) a quicker and less fiddly workflow than using the mfb sequencer. Im pretty happy with this (even though it took me a lot longer to work out than necessary!)
