Mellotron M4000D Mini

I may be unfamiliar with common practice with these machines… My unit has the factory library installed natively, not on a card. If they’re all like that then its firmware would be in the keyboard, not on a card. I would have to buy a new expansion card, but I was told that not all units are loaded with firmware, and that there may be some difference in the firmware between am m4000d and a mini.

I mean cant you get the firmware off the flash card? They would have the latest firmware.

Do these hardware Mellotrons have a Local
Off option? (Want to use with a sequencer)

I’m not in front of the Mellotron but I’ve just consulted the manual and it unfortunately does it not lost any local off setting.

But you can still use it with a sequencer; switching local control to off would just prevent the keyboard to control the engine. Or I misunderstood what you want to do…

Thanks @stiiiiiiive

Often if your synth and midi controller are the same then voices get double-triggered - once from pressing a key, again from the midi note message coming back out from the sequencer

Ok, thanks for explaining  MIDI loop it is.
So it implies you would like to input notes in the sequencer from the M4000 keyboard but play notes from the sequencer only, correct?
If so, maybe you could mute the sequencer MIDI output whenever you are not playing it. I suppose it is more tedious, though.

Anyone know what the digital mellotrons were going for during the Black Friday sale? The cards?

Voilà, I was coming precisely to pass this on

I hope the single socket output can separate the two voices on L&R
