Btw, this is now the greatest drum machine of all time. Maybe it always was but I don’t think there will be another that receives such extended love as this has received. I mean what other has something like a Megacommand being made and bought and updated by its loyal fans.
Thank you Justin, Yatao, Mbang(made my unit), and whoever else that is/was involved. Waftlord, I believe. Oh yeah and Ruin and Wesen. Hope all are well.
Hi all. I finally got a UW. When I try to under USB disk mode, I am getting “MODE N/A”. Any idea why that might be? (it is one of Mr. Bang’s lovely units)
MegaCommand DIY doesn’t include USB disk mode.
really silly question - how do I know if I have megacommand DIY or not? I have one made by Mr Marcus Bang.
The open source builds he makes are the DIY versions
Thank you!
In that case, is there a way to transfer some WAVs and Soundpacks from a computer by talking the SD out, putting it in a PC, copying files and then back in? is there some folder strucure that needs to be followed?
Yeah the way you described is the way forward.
I create a sample folder, then create project specific rom folders to store exported rom banks. Pseudo +drive.
If you have a +drive I’d stick with that for specific rom banks for each mcl project.
Awesome thanks! no +Drive so that’s a good pseudo one.
Hi! Sorry for asking. How long did it take to build Marcus’ megacommand? Thanks.
I am still waiting for mine since march. I started to delete sewuences cause my machinedrum is full.
I had Logic sending clock to MCL>MD, and port 2 sending clock to MPC. It was SUPER tight. thanks @waftlord
Then, it stopped werking. I was farting around trying to learn MCL, and now, even tho MCL shows up as a midi device in Logic, MD wont play, with that the MPC.
Tried restart and the MCL and took about 10min to turn on. There was light inside, but the screen took 10min to get to the boot screen. MD also doesn’t auto enter enhanced mode on start up of MCL. I have to select a pattern, then it peers.
I’m assuming I’ve did stupid somewhere while clicking around orienting myself. But I fear I may have done something to bone it…is that possible?
MCL 4.60 released:
Notable Additions:
- Support for MD’s inbuilt MID machines.
- Performance States (formerly Mute Sets), with parameter morphing via Performance Controller AutoFill
Read the Changelog
Amazing! Thank you!!
- Performance States (formerly Mute Sets), with parameter morphing via Performance Controller AutoFill
Thats a relatively huge one
You have a saved pattern.
You move 16 parameters to wherever you want them.
You press any mcl encoder and mcl load button together.
BOOM.
An instant (1 of 4) scene morph controller.
(Left scene saved state-> Right scene morph positions)
There’s 8 scenes so the potential for wide ranging variations within one pattern is massive.
beyond huge!
im a fucking dummy, and I have no idea what im doing with regard to updating the MC / MCL
-
is this compatible with M3 Macs?
-
my MC already shows up as a midi device and I haven’t done the DFU steps. its shows up as MegaCMD, but I have the DIY version [I believe]
-
I have a DIY…in appendix B do I have to follow the alternate DIY install, or does copying those files into the listed directories werk?
@palm DFU upgrade should be optional I believe. It’s not necessary if you already have USB MIDI.
If you’re upgrading from 4.51 then you should be good just to install Arduino legacy package and HexUploader then follow the instructions on GitHub for the DIY model.
This update is insane. Just the performance states autofill and kit morphing is such a genius workflow shortcut as well as a mad powerful feature. Huge thanks to devs
I have some question. Away from my stuff right now. So I don’t wanna ask something dumber than I’m about to.
[a little bit later]
so this means im good to go yes? I mean I know im connected, I dunno if it means im in the class compliant realm
when my Mac detects the MC it lists it as MegaCMD, but I believe I have a DIY version as I dont have SD access via USB. so I dont know what ive got.
Doesn’t matter which i select. Nothing shows up in hexloader serial port field
sorry about all the questions…Im just worried im gonna fuck it up and brick it…cuz thats what I do.
I actually have no idea what im doing with this Arduino stuff. I open the app…and am clueless. seriously im absolutely clueless.
thanks to Justin on Discord…im all sorted.
