MD Mid machine notes input

Hi all,
I have recently started to use the MID machine.
Is there a way to input midi notes from external gear though?
I tried to run the sequence in live record and in step mode with the Mid track selected and playing on my keyboard but it doesn’t seem to work. Is there a way it can be done?

I think you can only trigger the Mid machine, the note being a parameter.
@JustinValer MiniCommand maybe ?

Should be possible to record notes if you also send the Control Change coorresponding to the notes. Doable with a midi processor.
