Hey folks, I’ve researched this and I think it’s possible, but was wondering if anybody knew for sure; can you connect the MC-101 to Rytm emkay 2 for midi/audio over USB?
Ive done this with my phone, routing audio through a selected channel. Does this work with class compliant instruments?
Don’t quote me on it but no. I think you need a host, technically a phone (just as with a tablet or computer) acts as a host. An MPC live or one (for example) can act as a host, an elektron device while class compliant requires a host device and I don’t know about MC-101 but I don’t believe it can act in that role.
This is definitely true for USB midi, I can’t confirm for audio but I suspect it’s similar.
Don’t quote me. But if I’m right then quote me all day. But if I’m not correct, then be very forgiving. How’s that?
Sounds good, that actually seems correct though, as I now recall that I had to setup midi/audio routing on my phone, so that makes sense.
I’m basically trying to run a drum machine through rytm to handle basic drum needs to open up the rytm for it’s more experimental ambient sounds.
I can still pair it with OT for that purpose, I was just hoping I could do it with a more backpack friendly configuration
Yeah, I’m not aware of a standalone host for audio, just midi. I think you’d need a laptop to make it work so there goes the convenience. A standalone midi host would allow you to connect the usb of one to the din of the other. I’m not sure if there’s a usb to usb version, never seen that one if it exists.
