Maybe one of the connectors is broken?
Hopefully I’ll try a different set of batteries by the end of the week. Thanks all for the troubleshooting.
Bought some new batteries from the supermarket… didn’t switch on
Guess I will be taking it to be serviced and hope they can fix it. At least the usb power works fine.
Considering this thing seems so solid and built like a tank, I’m surprised my op-z has outlasted it
Has Roland added a way to hide or remove factory samples and presets on the MC 707?
I saw this as a complaint in early reviews. I’m ruthless with my samples and presets libraries and don’t have an interest in TR drum sounds or the massive patch library the MC 707 comes with
No
I think maybe there’s a misunderstanding of how the 101/707 work. They’re organized like the earlier MCs around a JV-like ROMpler library. There aren’t “factory” presets. Those are the only presets. Thus you can “hide” them by not browsing the preset list.
It is possible to do a lot of cool sound design on the 101/707, but those sounds are saved in-place in the current project. You can import sounds from other projects, so what some people do is create projects just to organize and “hold” user patches and browse those like presets. But that’s a different menu and interface so, again, already isolated from the “factory” presets.
You can do something similar by saving ‘clips’ but it is similarly inconvenient.
I really think ignoring the presets on the 101/707 is a recipe for a Bad Time. Firstly you’ll be skipping on some incredible sounds and some absolute classics. Secondly doing sound design on these boxes from an init patch is where fun goes to die
Unless someone makes a sound design helper for these boxes, like they have for the Digitone.
Thanks. I will look into this method. The 707 sounds great but was hoping to cut it down to the absolute favorite 30-50 patches and 15 drum kits.
I used to love doing patches from scratch even on the 101, the layout is so logical but goes deep.
I would have kept them if I could have named and saved my patches though
MC-707 actually has patch generator built in and it works pretty well. It can do bass, pads, leads etc.
I disagree - I have had a blast using INIT patch as creating my own sounds. I have a bootcamp series where I show how I program , it’s fun. If you haven’t seen it you can youtube search “mc707 bootcamp”
Anyone know how to mute individual drum sounds (per pad) on MC707 when sequenced from an external midi source? I can mute on the external midi source but not on the MC707 device when slaved. Thanks!
