MC 707 / 101 : Roland Grooveboxes

Could still be. I’m looking for a song sketching device, but I’m not yet sure what’s most important to me between sound design and easy song sketching. The new boutiques are cool in that they offer bi-timbrality and two sequencers tracks, so they do offer some song sketching abilities, but probably not as much as I’d like. Instead, it offers a deep synth engine.

The MC-101, on the other hand, offers a very quick and versatile way of sketching out a song idea, but has little sound design possibilities. Instead, it offers a bunch of great presets.

I kind of enjoy both sound design and song sketching (to me they’re two sizes of the same coin), so I guess I need to decide for myself what’s most important.

What both have in common are battery and USB power, small size / portability, and the Roland sound.
