v curious to hear how it works on standalone - pls keep us posted ![]()
i’m the dev of Celestine!
this makes sense, as some of the different grain modes expose different Live dials (ie: in Mosaic mode, the Spray dial is replaced with a Color dial). I’m guessing it’s controls like these that stop working on the Push depending on the mode, as right now the Spray dial is just mapped for all modes, even if some of the modes don’t use Spray.
A bit of an oversight on my part, but it’s hard to develop with a Push-first mentality when I don’t own one. It’s not that I don’t want one, it’s just that I have a toddler and it’s hard to justify buying fancy hardware when said toddler needs more important things.
I’m looking into a fix for this. The way Max/Max4Live handles Push bank assignments is a little idiosyncratic but I believe I’ve sorted out the best way to change these Push mappings on the fly. Maybe you could send me an email to ianallanjohnston@gmail.com and I can send over a pre-release version with these changes and get you to verify they’re working as they should?
Thanks for your support - hope you’re enjoying the device!
Once you’ve worked out what you need and when on pushbanks it’s pretty straightforward to send it messages to change it up, if you run into any problems I’d be happy to lend a hand. Feel free to shoot me a message if you hit a roadblock.
Just bought Celestine. It’s 5am so didn’t even listen to demo so I don’t wake up everyone. My only software buy this year after so many hardware buys. Have a S-4 in transit but helping your efforts to push this into Standalone.
Yes, it’s exactly those controls which are not always working. I suspected it might be something like that, as it’s similar to how some midi controllers work with Live devices that change their controls.
I am really enjoying Celestine! It’s hard to get a bad sound out of it. I also really liked your intro video. You have a very relaxing voice.
I’ll email you now.
Welcome Ian. Just to say your stuff is awesome!
Your toddler obviously needs a Push chair.
Now this is the perfect spin I needed! ![]()
You’re right - it was simpler than I first realized. I’ve got a working version of this now. A few folks emailed me to help beta test it (thank you!) and if anyone else would like to join, feel free to email me at ianallanjohnston@gmail.com
Not sure if it would be easier to set up a Discord or Slack or something to all share findings in the same place, or if I should just stick with email, but we’ll sort this out!
Also, a very kind original beta-tester who I believe is also on this forum has offered to lend me his Push 3 for a few days for me to do some real hands-on testing, which will be so helpful!
Just bought it. This looks like so much fun and so much more direct than Silo. That one just had too much options for me to get the result i have in my head.
Love it so far. The push controls are a bit off though, but you’ll find out soon enough when you’re using it yourself.
Thanks a lot for this! Great work!
Thanks for the purchase! And yes, the Push controls are rather lacking but the work on that has begun. I’ve already made a bunch of progress and yes, once I get my hands on a Push, it’ll make the process much smoother. Should hopefully have something to share in the coming week or two.
+1 sale
Doesn’t have to be M4L, a regular plugin would be fine, but anyone know of something that can do what AC Noises Ricorda can do? The key thing being reverse reverb and reverse granulator with a looping/long delay element. It’s a very cool pedal but I feel like I shouldn’t need to spend that much money for what seems like a fairly simple set of features, and yet I’m struggling to see how I’d achieve it using stock Ableton plugins.
I think that Microcosm is a similar deal if that’s something more people are familiar with.
The 2 things that come to mind quickly are both Audio Damage plugins:
Both are 50% off, so you might take a few minutes to demo them and see if they scratch the itch.
A very nice update to Sting 2 has just been released
I’ve had so much fun jamming with Sting + Slippery Slope (and Roar) on the Push in takeover mode.
Yes , arp mode and tie is really good as well as being able to decide what parameters to affect when generating. Wish that the midi notes input to one instance could be passed through to an input of an instance on a different track.
An easy work around can be to use a third track to send midi to both instances but it would cool if the push takeover mode of instance one could be used to control both tracks. It can technically already but only by sending the generated line itself and not the chord input.
Amazing tool for proper ducking. GMaudio Ducker 1.6
