Master track 8 changes the sound

When I turn on master track on T8 - sound changes. Master track deteriorates the sound. When turn off - sound returns (become better). I tried to turn off all effects but I have the same problem. In my sence - sound loses the volume becomes more flat.

Does anybody have the same problem?

i just tried doing track 8 master today and got the same result. however with mine the track 8 volume defaulted to 100 instead of the full 127. i didn’t take the extra couple seconds to try turning it up as i changed my mind on the setup for that project, and went with 4 mono thru machines on tracks 5-8 for the A/B/C/D inputs.

Today I was trying experiments again.

When I turn on master track:

sound on the master outputs becomes lower only( from vol 127 to 100 on my sence)
sound on the phones has deformations like a filter
sound on the que-outputs is the same as master (sound becomes lover only.

I am concerned by pharagraph #2, but it’s not critical problem.

Can you post an audio example? Would be interested to hear what you mean.

edit: to my ears turning the level to 127 sets the volume right and I’m assuming you don’t have an actual filter at work on the track?

So basically your hearing the Conversion Quality (or lack there of) of the Octatrack. Sucks…wish it was better, id use it/learn more

What conversion?
No additional conversion when you set T8 as Master Track. You have to increase its LEVEL 108>127.
By default, T8 has filter and delay fx. Filter may modify a bit the sound even with neutral settings. Fx 1 and 2 set to none, it should be neutral.

Btw, Master track not changing the sound is useless!

I’m going to check this out in a few hours. Sometimes louder is ‘better’ and quieter is ‘worse.’ Are you sure some make up gain wouldn’t make things equal?

My point is, there are many stages of conversion…that alot dont realize.
