I have experience opposite of @captain8.
Force just feels really uninspiring to use, very much IPad-ish.
I had force and now have M+ UI is better by miles.
All those functions mentioned above are easily accesible (with auto sampler coming in the next updated). You can stack as many effects as CPU can handle on every single pad. I love the workflow and it sounds pretty damn good. I also use mine with a lot of external gear and while CC implementation could be better it’s still kinda usable. Admittedly I do use it with external audio interface which allows me to run multiple external tracks a the time.
I used to have MC-707 at some point and that one was pretty fun too. If you are looking for something fun to jam with I would not recommend force.
Apart from the obvious advantages is the MPC X (same os/sound engine i know) the better machine?I mean theres a lot of nice controls on the front.Interface might be a bit busy and overkill tho.I fear it being a clunky brick!!!
Since i have the M+ and the MPC One, and hindsight being 20/20 i would go for the MPC One. It’s a great little box, amazing form factor and works great as the brains for any sort of setup.
I looked at the Akai Force, but it would have taken up way too much space in my setup and i personally cannot stand the Industrial Design of it…it feels like something which belongs on a forgotten weapons depot of the Republican Guard is a made for TV Star Wars movie.
The MPC Song Mode is a wonderful feature. The new synths and drum machines and effects are really nice as well. Its Midi connectivity is great as well. I love using my MPC One with my iPad which gives me an infinite amount of synths and sounds to sample.
If you want to be able to accomplish everything in a single piece of hardware the MPC line is definitely a ticket to invest in.
The M+ is nice…but it just seems to have been launched and forgotten about since its debut…i do hope this changes soon…i love its ID and form factor and workflow…let’s hope they take better care of their products

Hey! I also got a M+ and I’m looking for an external audio interface, which one do you use?
The Tascam Model 12 looks great, but I’m looking for a more compact alternative.
it’s the kind of thing you really got try out, the Mpc X is big too but I think it’s functionality is beautiful, mpc one as well, but the Force have some diehard fans for sure, I just couldn’t gel with it’s current model BUT I swear both the Force and the Maschine would be great if they came out with mini versions…
I use Ableton push alot as well, just can’t justify the current ergonomics of the Force right now.
Mpc x is a little overkill but still it’s not the kind of overkill that ruins the vibe and makes you not wanna make music imo , and that overkill is something you can grow into too without too much difficulty.
Keep in mind, mpc keys is right around the corner… even if you are not interested in a keys workstation, it will mean also that regular mpc’s are about to get a bunch of new features…
Heyo!
I use RME UCX II.
I heard tascam works pretty well too.
