Manual Trig, Trip Type

I can’t figure out if this is possible…I don’t think it is, but it’s worth a shot asking:

Is it possible, when manually triggering a track, either when in track mode and not recording mode (manually pressing tracks 9-16), or when in slots mode, to change the trigger TYPE?

I.E. change the manual trigger behavior to a ONE2, or HOLD? So when manually triggering the slots or tracks mode, you can hold the trig button to hold the sample playback in HOLD mode or press to start and press again to stop in ONE2, etc…?

From what I’ve tried, its always ONE2 with pressing track+stop to stop in tracks mode. Wish you could just press the trig again to stop…as its simpler and more fingers available for triggering and manipulating tracks/samples/parameters. Also the ability to hold the trig button to hold the sample playback in play state and stop when released is again, simpler.

If these ideas are not possible, i think this would be an awesome feature.

I’m not sure whether this setting affects slots mode but in tracks mode, if you have the track set to “plays free”,(thereby disconnecting it from the sequencer) you can set the trig mode on a per track basis.

Note that when set to plays free the tracks are trigged by pressing the first 8 trig keys (1-8) and NOT 9-16.

Open the pattern settings menu (FUNC + Bank) and select the track.

Relevant manual section: pay particular attention to the TRIG QUANT settings when trigging manually.

TRIG MODE controls how the track should react when it is being trigged. This setting is only available when the PLAYS FREE setting is activated.
ONE will make the track start playing once the [TRIG] key initiating trigging of the track is pressed. The playback of the track will be restarted when pressing the button again. To stop the playback of the track [STOP] needs to be pressed.
ONE2 will make the track start playing once the [TRIG] key initiating trigging of the track is pressed. The playback of the track can be stopped either by pressing the button again or by pressing [STOP].
HOLD will make the track play for as long as [TRIG] key initiating track playback for the chosen track is pressed and held. Playback of the track will stop when the button is released.
TRIG QUANT is only available when the PLAYS FREE setting is activated. It allows both quantized start and stop of the playback of the tracks. Note that the sequencer needs to be playing for this setting to have any effect. The TRIG MODE setting, covered above, also affects the how the [TRIG] keys will control the playback. Choose between the TRIG QUANT settings with the LEVEL encoder.
DIRECT will make a disconnected track start playing as soon as the corresponding [TRIG] key initiating track playback is pressed.
TR. LEN will quantize the start and stop of the disconnected track according to the total length of the track.
1/16… will quantize the start and stop of the disconnected track according to set step length. If the chosen value starts to blink that indicates the value, depending on whether NORMAL or PER TRACK scale is active, exceeds either the length of the pattern or the set master length. The track quantization will then will then be set either according to the pattern length or the master length, again depending on active scale mode.

praise odin! thanks man!

‘play free mode’ is exactly what i was looking for.

what happens in slots mode though? no info in the manual that i can find. it’d be amazing for each slot to have a trig type setting.
