I’m just getting to grips with manual sampling and the manual’s very light on it.
I was having trouble getting my head around the settings but I think I’ve got it now and have tested it successfully a few times but it sometimes it still doesn’t trigger sampling.
I’m sampling single bar loops with quick record enabled. Record setup1 is:
All inputs enabled for all tracks
RLEN = 16
Trig = ONE
Loop = ON
Rec setup 2 is:
Fin/Fout 0.063
QREC = PLEN
QPL = OFF
When I press record AB or CD it usually starts recording but sometimes it doesn’t. I can’t tell why it doesn’t start and sometimes it works fine on retrying, sometimes it works after moving to a new channel but I’m baffled what’s happening when it doesn’t sample.
Appreciate it might be tricky to give an exact cause from this, but are there any obvious issues which might prevent sampling from starting here?
My pattern is 16 long. I’ll give it a try with QREC off. I was baffled that it would work initially and then when I pressed the button again to rerecord it wouldn’t.
I think I’ve just figured out that you can’t record a sample with grid record on, is that correct?
Well I can’t get it to fail now! It’s possible that it was grid record being enabled but I’ll have a play around and will post back if I encounter it again.
Grid record mode should not have anything to do with it as far as I know, maybe if you accidentally entered a record trig while editing the record setup. The expected behavior when QREC is PLEN is that if the if the sequencer is stopped the recording starts immediately and if the sequencer is running the recording starts on beat one of the next pattern.
That caused a few of my earlier problems - accidentally entering a record trig instead of a normal playback one because I was in the record setup menu.
Looks like you can’t manually sample when grid record is enabled and rec setup is onscreen. Which I guess is reasonable if they’re expecting you to input record trigs, was a bit puzzling at first though.
