Hello Dear Elektron users.
I have this major problem that needs to be fixed before I go out and play live.
I cannot seem to figure out what to do if I want machinedrum to be the master clock for rytm and change patterns on the RYTM to the corrensponding pattern that machindrum is playing. Note that it should definately not midi trigger sequences on the rytm ( I want to trigger the sound of RYTM with its own sequencer getting clock from machinedrum)
I went to the global settings on the rytm and checked: Transport recieve.
And went to machinedrum global settings and choose program change out to be :ON.
So the result of this is everytime I change a pattern the rytm also does change to a new pattern, but definately not the corrensponding pattern number as the machinedrum is playing. And when I use midi machines, they trigger RYTM, which I donw want them to ( I want those to trigger other externalt gear.
Please are there a midi alchemist that can help me out here??
Can you give an example of Pattern number differences on MD / AR ?
If you don’t want AR to receive midi notes check midi channels, they have to be different. It must be possible to filter incoming midi messages too.
Why don’t you try AR as master clock ?
Thanks for fast reply.
Actually it does not mather if its machindrum or md that is the master clock. i just want them to play same tempo and same pattern. can you explain to me how to do that, either with rymt as the master or the md?
and I will give an example, but now nothing is working, so I have to get it back to where I was before. But please if you have some step by step guide, then share, cause this is so annoying
As AR doesn’t send notes, and if you want to simplify midi configuration, I’d try AR as master.
Disable CC/NRPN send from AR too.
I have MD and A4, but sync parameters are the same. Not in front of them.
AR as Master :
Clock / Transport send checked
Clock / Transport receive unchecked
Prog Change send checked
Prog Change receive unchecked
The opposite for MD.
Tempo In > Internal
Control In > On
Prig Chang In > On, with corresponding midi channel.
It can be more complex depending on other gear, if you have other sequencers, midi controllers.

Maybe I’m missing something. I’m trying to set it up now with the RYTM as master. Did what you said, but still only clock my machindrum gets. Still wont change patterns. The menu of the machinedrum is a bit different and is not called exactly the same as on rytm. But I’m almost sure i checked what shoul be checked on the machinedrum. Damn, still not doing what I want to. But thanks a ot for you help, much appreciated. I must be doing something wrong, but really cannot figure out what.
yeeeeees man, I figured it out noooow. Thaaanks a lot!

For other gear plugged to MD midi out you might want to send Clock and Transport
Tempo Out = On for clock
CTRL Out = On for Start / Stop, but beware, you’ll send trigs midi notes too, on the BASE midi channel.
