Process and Gear STuff///
i’ll do gear first cuz that helps with the processss/
I use a bunch of shitty tape recorders with old batteries and old tapes/
a Prophet 08 synth/
a boss bx-800 i thnk is what it’s called? it’s an old lil mixer with different colored knobs, he’s the cutest/
some old hollow body epiphone guitar/
roland sp-404/
and then a lynx aurora ad/da converter/
a designs pacifica preamp/
bryston 3b “amp” ← thing weighs like 20 ibs, seriously just a car battery, ugh, smells weird…/
a pair of yamaha ns10’s/
and Elektron Machinedrum (hollr)/ then a desktop computer/

I literally hv no real idea of what i’m doing, it’s kind of a hacked together knowledge of shit i’ve learned from the internet/ when it comes to making stuff, I never hav an idea beforehand, I know I hav a feeling or a memory tho, so I normally go off that, sometimes i’ll pick a key beforehand, but not normally, keys and shit drive me crazy/ seems like dumb info to hav on brain/
I use the “Nomad” plug-ins a lot when tracking and stuff, really like what they do/ when i record guitar it’s normally with NI guitar rig, that was the first plug in i ever got, so it’s like the only one i really know how to use, so i use that quite often/ i’ll record shit onto the tape machines, then through the 404 into the COMPUTERRR
Program a bunch of different sequences on the machinedrum and pick a few favves and then cut them up and arrange them how i like/ heavy sidechaining is one my favorite things, for that i just use Logic9’s onboard compressor, i really like the thing, it’s pretty straightforward/ also, i use logic9, forgot to mention, i don’t use it for any other reason than it’s what i know, i guess it clicks with me more than ableton tho/
as for mixing, i guess i normally do that when recording, never really after, and MASTERING, thas a hard thing, but i don’t like the idea of sending it off to someone, i know they could do a lot better than i could…but i like that it’s all “in house” that way every decision made is mine, and the final product sounds like how i want it to sound (not all the time tho)
I’m definitely not that good at mastering, like at all, but i think it’s kind of silly, i like how “raw” it can sound when the mastering is so so/ i’m trying to get better tho, use a lot of waves plugs/ some PSP ones/ and an oxford limiter i think/ Brainworx too0000
