Thanks! This was the crux of the problem. I didn’t know what software utility to use.
Try this.

On Mac, sysex librarian is still the best. It’s gonna be slow.
Again. Back up:the entire machine 1st. Patterns, kits and all.
It won’t overwrite, but if something does go wrong in an update, you’ll wanna have your personal stuff
Ain’t got no Mac. Def will backup though…
I have an MD SPS-1 MK1 with OS X.09. Is it worth upgrading to X.12? What are the most noticeable differences? Can you upgrade directly from X.09 to X.12? I don’t use the Machinedrum as a MegaCommand unit.
I think it’s always a good idea to use a newer firmware, even if you don’t use MCL.
Q - how much ability does the X firmware add to do synthesis to external signals? I have a UW so I know its possible to live sample and then play with pitch, retrigs etc but I wondered how much it can expand the machine as an live FX processor? The new FX machines I think can act on an input machine for example? What else?
The NFX machines changes everything
For example you could:
Use NFX track to apply FX to input
RAM record track resampling that
RAM play track messing with that track in real-time
Another NFX track applying FX to the RAM play track etc…
Basically you can just make long chains of processing where the live input can be real-time processed/ tweaked with way more complexity than the OG firmware.
cheers. I will experiment. Anyone else - ideas to explore would be much welcome!
