Machinedrum SPS1-UW X.12 Released [ Unofficial ]

The only thing I’d whish for is a cool randomizer

What do you guys do instead of being able to use pattern mutes? Is there any way to do it on the X firmware?

use song mode, it is better than song mode on all the modern digis including the digi2’s.

Interesting, hadn’t thought of that. Thanks!

To me, both! I press the encoders down 95% of the time on MnM and MD. And I never ever press them on the Digis …

I’m the same - I would welcome it. The MD encoders are slow geared: also if there was anyway to have BUTTON + ENCODER for zero reset that would also be welcome.

I agree with the previous posts on this as an entirely preserving thing. Would be thankful for this to be added to the X firmware

i can’t really speak for [redacted] and options for changes to X in future. I was just interested in reasons.

i can speak personally, yeah the silver boxes encoders are slow and less responsive than modern boxes.
i see it as a result of the point in time when they were created, them’s the breaks, that’s how they operate.
i hear peoples concerns/desire to increase lifespans. but it’s such a fundamental change to operations…

i’ve also said this before; an encoder swap isn’t a high risk procedure, and should last you XX years afterwards.

There’s also the slightly-not-widely-known option to bump the sensitivity a bit in the global config, although I think this is only on the mk2 versions?

Now that we are speaking about encoder speed, and if its possible to do a more general change.

For the CTRL-8P machine, it’s possible to automate midi CC (Trigless trig hack)
However if you want to record these automations by turning the encoders, you need to hold them down.

It would be hugely beneficial to not having to hold down the encoders in CTRL-8P to be able to record.

I was really hoping that some day the X firmware would be able to change this.

I am not sure if this is even possible, but maybe some log response could be implemented, meaning if you move the encoder by more than x speed, it will automatically change to larger jumps / faster speed.

I like to be able to fine tune parameters, this often means slow movement and shorter distance to begin with , and if I need to change a parameter more drastically, then i tend to move the encoder faster and longer.

Anyway this was just some idea. But really that CTRL-8P is the dream change I have been hoping for since I first saw the X firmware.

Can anyone help me with the MCL LFO - I cannot get the LFO to operate any parameters - I have been going over and over this for an hour or so, but it seems as though the MD is possibly sysex filtering out the LFO from the MCL.

I can LER (pair the filter, for example) to the LFO, but it will not oscillate. The SPEED and DEPTH make no difference.

I thought it may be because of an MD conflict, using the same LFO, but its not the case…

I have tried all types, FREE / TRIG / ONE - I have tried putting 16 steps too

Also rebooted etc, Nothing fixes it.

Yo @8bitBarry , is MCLs LFO on? need ot check but i tihnk yes or no buttons turns it on/off

It was not! I didn’t realise it had an on/off - thank you all fixed

I am having more trouble - this time I cannot get ROW 1 to repeat 4 times, chenge to ROW 2 for example.

If i am in row A01, I set the LOOP to 4, the Load Tracks to AUT, JUMP to A02, it doesn’t jump. Again another hour of headaches!!

I swear when i have all this straight I am going to make a load of video support, so noone else has to go through this ridiculous ordeal.

Please do! There are plenty of vids about MCL but not a step by step general tutorial. The closest I’ve found:

I can’t thank Diamond Runway enough for the videos, they have been a solid help, but there are so many holes in these tutorials - the MCL beginner is easily sailing in a sea of frustration. There isn’t enough explanation about the architecture, approach, button functionality and menus, formulating song structures, tips and tricks etc.

I feel like I am blindfolded in a cave looking for treasure - but I swear to god I will get there. Uploading the manual to Perplexity AI and having a PDF manual to perform searches has been very useful, but it needs some serious video tutorial support.

found your problem :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Really? Its nothing but help me with 100% my questions. It just saved me from hell where the unit completely froze and I had to perform a soft reset.

ask your slop machine what stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye means :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Hi everyone!
Currently, the MIDI machines on the Machinedrum don’t support legato: each trig cuts off the previous note, which means overlapping notes aren’t possible. This prevents, for example, doing classic 303-style step sequencing within a single MIDI track.
One workaround is to use two MIDI machines on the same channel, but that makes programming a bit tedious (even if it’s fun in its own way).
Would it be feasible to add legato support in a future update, with a MID2 machine or something?
Thanks for the incredible work!
