Machinedrum SPS1-UW X.10 Released [ Unofficial ]

Thank you.

And yes! I and I say, it works very good…

Hi,

I’ve got X.08 installed and I’m experiencing repeated crashes with the MD UW.

It simply locks up and becomes unresponsive other than emitting the odd high pitched sound that isn’t being triggered by choice.

All buttons are unresponsive and often the display goes a bit crazy too.

Rebooting tends to sort it, but sometimes I have to also remove the power from the back.

In TESTMODE there no issues are apparent.

I’m not sure what is triggering the issue but it is happening reliably and regularly - Every 3 - 5 minutes.

What can I do to provide more information to allow any support?

Would a video of the issue help?

Thanks for any support that can be given.

Cheers,
Adam

Is there a more recent link into the Discord discussion too?

Thanks

discord invites reset every 7 days now, here’s a fresh one

in terms of your issue it sounds more in line with a PSU or internal loose connector (or other hardware problem) than a fw problem.

Cheers @waftlord.

I’m going to try to return it to the original firmware and have a play just to ascertain if it is related to X.08.

Original Firmware has been installed - Machine just locked up again. I’m going to try a different power supply. I’m guessing that the newer Elektron boxes use different power supplies?

what model version is it?

SPS 1 UW Mk2

easier to find replacement than mk1s

Would this work?

Output voltage: 5.7-6.3V DC

DON’T use the 12V one.

Okay cheers.

I won’t use that then.

I’ll look on Amazon for something that’ll work.

I’m looking for a 5.7 - 6.3V DC yeah? Is specifying that in my search enough for me to find what I need?

Thanks for this help.

Adam

I wouldn’t use a generic PSU from Amazon’s bazaar of crap, if you could avoid it. You may be ok with any of them that seem to fit, but with something as valuable as a Machinedrum you might as well go for quality.

https://www.jameco.com/ has reliably sourced PSUs. Might require a bit more understanding of spec to sort through, but it’ll be good to develop that knowledge to begin with.

You’re completely right.

That dawned on me 10 seconds after writing that. :grimacing:

I’m borrowing a friend’s OT MK1 supply this weekend and I’ll try it out. I’m really hoping that it works. :crossed_fingers:t2::crossed_fingers:t2:

If not…

I’ll be looking on here for recommendations for someone who can fix these things :grimacing:

Understatement of the decade. I spent £100 on a power supply for a MK1. :stuck_out_tongue:

I second this! Had a similar crash with one of my MD’s happening a couple of times.

Usually this is due to the connectors between the pcb’s. Undo those and replug them this should fix it for a while

Cheers @ninqe.

Is that relatively straightforward?

I’m waiting for an MCL to arrive and then want to include the MD as part of my live setup so I need it to be reliable.

I’m following this!
I’m having crazy freezing up with my newly acquired MD-UW MKII, I thought it was due to the FW too but reading this I have just ordered a new Elektron PSU2 and hoping this will fix the issue (there was actually a nasty kink in the PSU’s cable). If that doesn’t work I may have to open up mine too to check the connectors between the PCB’s. I’m also trying to incorporate the MD into a set which I’m playing in 20 days time.

This is a perfect parallel of my situation.

Checking connections on PCBs…

Is that straightforward?

If the screen is cracked or damage it somehow that kills the power, I suffered for a year with that problem sold the md as not working for a very low price and replaced it with a functioning unit then saw my old one for sale with a repaired screen for double what I sold it for!!!
