Machinedrum creaking noisy buttons

Hi everyone! I have new MD and there is nasty thing: the buttons (especially trigs) sometimes importunately noisy … sometimes feeling like rubbing styrofoam… is this a temporary phenomenon until it is new or I have to live with it, anybody knows?

That’s what all three of mine sounded like, it’s just the design of the trig buttons.

Sometimes it drives me wild! My monomachne’s buttons are softer and quieter =((
Maybe someone tried to lubricate them with silicone or assembly gel?

I have a suspicion that this issue appeared is the last series of devices.

Answer from official support:

The MD do this. The long travel of the keys, the tight space between the keys and panel, and the resonant metal casing are to be blamed for this. The buttons are proper keys and not micro switches witch makes them last longer. The downside is that they are as noisy as a classic computer keyboard.

Yes, the leaf spring type of button is very durable. They remind me of arcade machine buttons like Sanwa a bit. That clacky springy sound is part of the Elektron experience in a way…

It’s not related to the last run of devices. I owned one of the first MDs and one of the last, they both sounded like that (as did the one I bought around 2010.)
