Hi.
Was wondering if someone who knows more about computers could help me here.
I am obviously looking forward to overbridge. So I think I need to upgrade my mac a little. I have also recently been using Kontakt (more than I did) in live9 jamming along with the OT and Rytm.
I am using a 15" Macbook Pro early 2011. It has 4GB Ram. The max I can put in it is 16GB.
Question is would 8 give me a significantly enough performance boost or should I really just go for the 16.
I know the answer is probably get the best you can afford but was just thinking whats the point if 8 will be good enough.
Cheers

pI’m just gonna parrot what’s already been said: get an ssd. if you want RAM, 8gb should suffice. I think I even have a couple 4gb modules I’d be willing to sell you for cheap (like 40 bucks) if they will fit. they’re from a 2012 imac, I think they’ll work.

Thanks again. I will look into the SSD option.
I have used crucial before when I upgraded my old iMac a few years back. Their sight is very useful and worth using.
Due to Robert Leiner saying on facebook today his 2011 Macbook Pro has died I have just learned there is a massive problem with 2011 Macbook Pro’s. Was not aware before. Might just have to get something new however. Will have to see. Something to do with lead solder on the processer cracking under heat. Not the best news for anyone with a 2011 model.
