Omg. They don’t take PayPal. Was going to order pay in 4 since I won’t have it all for a few weeks. So annoying.

Tragically missed the batch due to mother’s day obligations. It’s ogre.

It’s a Mk2 I have. I think I’ve got to the bottom of it.
It was happening when plugged into a computer over USB, fair enough as that often causes weird sounds, but also happening when plugged directly into a USB charger, and also when plugged into a LPP and the LPP was powered by this USB charger.

Culprit A - The PC, the crackles persist but only on the M8’s audio/headphone port, they can’t be heard in the audio coming in over USB thankfully
Culprit B - The USB charger, switched to a different one and I get no crackles

I’m now a proud and excited member of the club now as well. Can’t wait.

Will be studying the manual and videos the coming weeks.

For those that missed out, I’m pretty pleased with how headless works on the TrimUi Brick. It’s way way smoother than the old setup I had on an Abneric device - it basically ā€œjust worksā€. Not as good as the real thing of course but I think probably good enough to tide people over. Can share more details if people are interested!

Please do!

Yes please do, are the installation steps the same as for an Abneric device?

I got an as-new model 2 last week, used, at a fair price. Still, I almost ordered another one as I like it so much. I also think that the next batch is going to be way more expensive.

In the end I kept myself under control. Both the M1 and M2 are extremely repairable, so I think I’m good. I haven’t been so into making music for years.

May I ask why the M8 makes you productive?

Oh that’s interesting. I tried a diy version a few years ago and it was buggy with the abernic so I gave up on it. I’ve got an official m8 on the way but still a games console+3d printed enclosure for a teensy is still pretty neat!

I don’t like to think of any creative work as ā€œproductive,ā€ but I know what you’re getting at.

I’m not sure exactly what it is, but I find myself disappearing into a song for hours, whereas with a DAW, or the OP-XY, or anything else I have tried, after I get some good loops going, say, I tend to stop.

I find the combination of total control and happy accidents to be very compelling. Also, the M8 is just more capable than most other things. There’s very little you can’t do, if you think of creative ways to achieve your goals.

Also, the M8 is very fast to use. It seems like it would be frustrating, with just 8 buttons and no knobs, but after a while you stop thinking about the buttons. It’s similar to learning to drive a car, or getting good at the special attacks in Streetfighter 2.

It’s not for everyone. I bought my M:02 from a guy who got his in the last batch a didn’t like it at all.

One thing I hear over and over is that people find the M8 pushes them towards structuring songs, rather than into tweaking loops.

I recommend trying the headless version to see if you like it

Thank you for your detailed answer - appreciated.

I totally get the thing you describe with the balance between precise work and happy accidents. Love to get that kind of connection with a machine. Getting lost for hours is the best. I had a similar relationship with a Yamaha RS7000 for years.

I just purchased a M8 from the batch today, even though I’ve never used a tracker before  Can’t wait to pack a sandwich and spend a day in the forest with the M8
