That where really good tips!
It really sparked a lot of inspiration with the fm synth and ERR and the limiter.
Next time i try some bundles and the hypersynth .
Here is a little track I did to test those techniques .
At first I tried to get a warm classic analog sound on a chill beat, but my head drifted somewhere else and i had so much fun while drifting ![]()
Massive attack vibe at the beginning!! It sounds good ![]()

I‘m gonna try your top-down mixing workflow for the next time. That sounds pretty straightforward!
In the ERR re-applies on the sustained note, not on the trigger?
ERR gets applied wherever/whenever the FX command is ran.
Usually I apply it on the first row of a table followed by a HOP01 so that it only happens on note triggers and not repeated (more of an error note tune offset than repeated modulation). But also fun can be had having it trigger quickly over and over, especially nice on higher note leads with a table tick of FF (200 hz mode).

thank you for explaining, now I have some more ideas to try
@trash80 I am still stunned by the m8. Thank you for creating it. It is amazing. ![]()
Has anyone updated their M8 MkII using a Mac with iOS 26? I went to download tytools but their newest version doesn’t say 26 is supported.
Mac OS 26 works. Just need to drop the application to the /Applications folder and make sure to agree to any permissions requests.
trash, any idea when the next round will be up for ordering? The website says late January. I know parts may be difficult to get right now. No rush, just trying to plan some finances for when they do become available.
Sorry I forgot to update the description. Looks like a week or so out, we have all the parts now, just doing assembly.
By exceeding line level voltage you risk frying the inputs on the CODEC, so play carefully. Do not use something like eurorack where voltage can far exceed line level.
Understanding what line level you’re feeding it might help. My SSL interface outputs up to +24 dBu, which is a lot hotter than some line level inputs will tolerate. I think (from memory) that the Octatrack takes up to +17 dBu, so i always pad the output to keep from clipping.
I didn’t see a spec for the m8.
M8 has a consumer grade line level input… Think -10dBv to -5dBv or 0.56 Vrms / 1.6 Vpp. Synth gear line level or headphone output etc works fine, eurorack or that crazy SSL output of 24 dBu is way too hot… obviously haha.
There’s my problem, I didn’t know the M8 was using a consumer level line input. I was feeding it 0dBv to +4dBu signals, making it distort (pleasantly) instead of clipping, which caused me to make some wrong assumptions. My apologies.
I’ve deleted my previous posts to avoid confusion for anyone who might read this in the future.
Anybody in Spain that ordered a M8 tracker recently and tell how much the extra import fees was?
I received mine in September 2024 and it was 230 eur (more or less). Madrid (Spain)
Thank you for the info
