M:S and eurorack syncing

I just purchased a Syinsi midi clock tile to allow my eurorack to follow the sync of my model samples. This takes midi and converts to 24ppq din sync.

All my settings are set up correctly on the model samples (tested with a beatstep pro) but I can’t seem to clock the eurorack directly with the model samples. What’s strange is that if i send a clock from the model:samples into a beatstep pro and then into the syinsi midi clock, it works great (with some latency), but i can’t seem to get it to go directly from the model: samples to the syinsi. I no longer am using the BSP for sequencing, so using that as the primary clock is not an answer.

Is there something inherently different about the kind of clock coming out of elektron gear? Anyone have any thoughts?

Seems like you should try using the BSP as your master clock.

Beatstep pro is no longer in the picture as I now have a WMD metron.

Welcome to the forum!

I suspect a MIDI cable polarity problem; Arturia’s connection scheme is different from some other gear.

There are a number of things you can double-check:

Are you using the Elektron MIDI adaptor to convert from 3.5 mm to 5-pin DIN?

Are you using a working MIDI cable?

On the M:S:

  • in the CONFIG > MIDI > PORTS menu, set OUT TO to MID,
  • in the CONFIG > MIDI > PORTS menu, set OUT POL OUT to STD,
  • in the CONFIG > MIDI > PORTS menu, set OUT/THRU to OUT,
  • in the CONFIG > MIDI > SYNC menu, set CLK OUT to ON.

Try that and see what happens.

(If you are inadvertently using an Arturia adaptor, you would need to set OUT POL OUT to “INV”.)
