sending kb channel 1 midi to ableton, routing that to elektron usb channel 1-6 works to control tracks on m:c, channel 7/8 (pro 800/wasp) nothing. same for any midi directly from pc through usb
mpd32 sending through midi din to m:c, everything works, channels 1-6 and 7 & 8, it passes midi thru. unfortunately mpd32 itself doesn’t do midi thru, otherwise i would just pass it from kb > pc out and not use m:c usb
temporary setup until i get a keystep but annoying nonetheless
At this count of midi devices a midi splitter could help I guess.
Try syncing mpd using usb and do pc midi out to cycles. Also make sure you have configured m:c out port to act as thru
That’s how I had it originally. Just got the cycles a few days ago and had an old Roland mc307 in its place. Difference there being the 307 has a whole drum rack on midi channel 10, as opposed to the cycles 6 channels.
But the mpd is annoying and won’t output midi the same when it’s hooked up through USB and ignores the channel on its screen and instead uses the routing from the PC. It makes sense but would be a lot better if I could decide where it’s outputting from. So I can’t control each of the tracks of the m:c on a single pad bank
You can’t use any Elektron like a USB Midi interface as the USB Midi bus and DIN Midi bus are not connected
