LYRA-8 Organismic Synth (for soundscapes, FXs, pads, complex textures)

Id love to play drums to this. Very slow tempo. Think OM.

In seriousness, Lyra texture aside, just sounds just like a pretty low synth note with a very slow LFO on pitch going downwards or even a portamento setting between two keys set very low. Was going to say it’s a shepherd tone thing but that’d have to be digital to get right and I don’t think it is.

IMO the overall sound is very distorted … so it’s hard to tell what they are really doing.

On the Lyra more than one pad is used and there is an organ-like sound ongoing and changing every time the hand is moved to other pads. Since the Lyra does have only one kind of waveshape but each of the voices has a different range of pitches I guess it’s about selecting a similar tuning.

The stuttering may be caused by some cross-FM-modulation, which is done from time to time, if I remember the knob-functions correctly …

Sounds a bit like a pitch shifter or a short shimmer reverb effect. There’s also a moogerfooger and another white pedal in the video. Hard to say what it is but i think it’s not only the pure sound of the Lyra-8.

Lyra’s are strangely addictive - I’ve even owned one of yours (which isn’t hard as you’ve owned most of them) and have just ordered my second… It’s the sound design boomerang.

Sounds like you’re about to own two of mine…

Fin flips open a trenchcoat, black-market Lyras clacking in pockets.

Hey kid, you want a barely-used Lyra?

I’ve bought a white one, is that the one colour you’ve not owned? Maybe I could sell you mine in a couple months

I’ve not had a white one or either of the green ones.

I cannot rule anything out.

Have you posted in the show your setup thread recently? Always interested to see what gear you’re playing with atm.

Changes on a daily basis mate.

New version with four voices:

Available as single device or as a set of 2

I think Lyra-4 was the early Lyra, without double delay. So it would be a reedition, somehow.

The double delay is half the fun of Lyra

I think you’re right. Didn’t know that. Guess they were not so popular at that time. Anyway the lower price tag is probably really tempting.

Sold my Lyra8 in spring and right now I’m not planning to get another one. But if so, 4 voices would definitely be enough for me

I am interested in getting a pair of Lyra 4s. I think the Lyra 8 is great, but something about having two smaller Lyra on hand sounds really fun

a very interesting pair of noise devices for 580€

Wow, they’re priced quite low right now. Two independent LFOs on a pair of lyra-4s could be interesting and help make up for the lack of cross-mod between the two machines’ voices (as is possible on the 8).

I’ve grown attached to my Lyra 8, but if I wasn’t, I’d consider selling it for a pair of -or even single one of- the 4s.

Would be a no brainer if it also had the external in of the Lyra-8 would love to make the delay stereo, use it a lot for processing bland orchestral samples into something special (or am I giving away my secret sauce now).
