FUNC + SAVE only saves your patterns to the temp file.

I think the manual is not clear on this. It could do with one consolidated section that goes through all the detail mentioned here (assuming that’s all correct).

What and when M:S autosaves, if it does?

Agreed. Powering Down: Powering the unit down via the encoder suspends the active working state of the last-opened project. This process doesn’t save any data to disk; it is akin to the ‘hibernate mode’ found on laptops. Losing Power: The active working state will be lost and the project will be loaded from disk.
