Loopy Pro

is it just a stereo pair in and out on the subzero?

No, it has 8 mono ins, make into 4 stereo if you like. Plus some 3.5mm jacks. Outputs is just one stereo out I think and headphones and class compliant usb. It’s a great little thing, I only paid about Ā£60 for it 5 years ago. Compact too. It was a bit redundant when Digitakt got class compliant usb, but dig it out recently.

8 mono ins via usb??? (i’m only asking about the usb part…I can use a portable backpack mixer w/ class compliant usb)

No, 8 analogue ins (1/4ā€ jacks) - the main stereo out (1 or 8 analogue in) goes to the usb class compliant port.

But what i’m asking is there not a stereo input on that USB (allowing direct output from the ipad like a sound card)

Nope, for that you’ll need a sound card, even if just a small device such as iRig 2. USB will do MIDI though, so need for a MIDI interface at least.

I just stumbled upon this app, i haven’t purchased, yet.

Is this going to make my Octatrack obsolete?

I have an iconnect 4 i/o audio/midi interface connected to OT and it seems like this app could completely replace the OT?

You might want a hardware controller for the full effect, and it’s not quite an exact match, but it appears to do a whole whack of similar stuff well. Plus the customizations possible seem staggering. I haven’t purchased yet, either, though I keep my eye on forum threads about it. It looks like it will demand a substantial commitment of time, and there are other things ahead of it in the queue.

It really depends on what you intend to do with it. The UI is pretty easy to learn, at least for the main functionality - of course, the devil is always in the details, with a lot of options under the hood.

Perhaps I should have phrased it this way: I feel I would want to devote some time to learning it properly, rather than use it casually and occasionally as I do with so many other iPad apps.

I don’t think that you’d only use it occasionally once it’s installed. It is one of the better DAWs on iVerse imo. If I’m not mistaken, you can try it out for free.

Was considering upgrading my little-bit-dated ipad to access Logic, then along comes this. Been waiting so long for a satisfying way to develop jams and finish tracks, and seems like two have come along at once. Super happy with LP so far for capturing ideas quickly and laying down a track structure. Logic can wait

So long this app doesn’t do MIDI sequencing this app is useless to me. It was promised as being the no.1 upcoming new feature in the first big update. Seems like there isn’t much effort in actually making that happen unfortunately.

Yeah internal would be nice. Lots of auv3 options though

It’s in currently progress according to the roadmap:

The dev is working on integrating this in to this version. He’s very active with updates and very clear about what’s going on with development.

Don’t worry. It will arrive and change everything just like Loopy Pro changed everything for people who are Loop focused producers/performers.

LoopyPro is the best looper on any platform. It’s easy to pick up for casual user and super customizable for the adept.

HA I stand corrected.

Just for the record what does ā€˜in progress’ really mean?

That it’s being worked on. Standard development nomenclature.

For Midi and loops i just use Drambo or Logic Pro.

Loopy Pro is great for audio loop capturing and excels at this. I don’t really miss the lack of midi as i want to development my audio loop workflow.

It will be a nice feature but one i don’t need right now since i can use other apps on the iPad for this (mentioned above)

Loopy Pro is great for resampling as well, so easy. I use it fir drum programming via Digistix and then committing to audio. So easy!

Yep. The nature of the iPad is that it’s modular and a lot of auv3 apps work really well together.
