I’m trying to put together a live set of tracks previously written in my DAW using my Syntakt and Digitakt OG. Mainly I’m recording loops of midi from the DAW into the Syntakt which is working quite well for bass and synth lines. For more complex things like chord progressions, I’ve sampled loops and put them in the Digitakt, however I’m not quite sure the best way to set these up across multiple bars. I’m triggering the sample from a C trig, but in order for it to stretch and loop across all the bars I’m setting the envelope decay to INF which means it continues to sound even after I’ve muted that track. Is there a cleverer way to do this?
If you’ve sampled long loops the only way I’m aware of to be able to mute at will is first setting the trig length to infinite to make sure that the entire loop sample will play out and then using that loop as your track sample placed on the first step of your pattern so that you can use slice mode.
Once you’ve sliced it you can lay it down consecutively from the first trig and your mute will kick in at the next slice point. If you just want to trigger samples with the trig keys, then I think that you’re stuck with the decay time you choose.
You can also use the audio mutes found at Settings>Audio Routing>To Main, where you’ll get similar green ‘mutes’ on the trigs.
Not the easiest to navigate to in a live setting, but you could keep that page open if youre just using DT as a playback device.
ooh, nice one. Not had a use for that yet but handy to have as an option
Thanks, I’ll try both of these options.
If you set the H of the AHD envelope to maximum, it will show “NOTE”, and then you can set the note length on the trig page to 64 or whatever, up to 128 I think.
You could also use a lock trig (FN _ trig) on the track at the right spot and condition (2:2, say) that turns the velocity or volume of the sample to zero.
Ahh ok that makes sense, I’ll give it a go tomorrow
Stay in your daw and it’ll be even easier
Don’t bother with the hassle of digitakt etc.
