it was a great video on using one sample, and really the best/only at the time for a daw/ableton, I’ve been well versed in the techniques since then but that was a great video
I don’t know what else to search by… I’m searching ‘ableton single sample’, ableton only one sample’ ‘making a whole track out of one sample’ etc…

none of those unfortunately… but in regards to narrowing it down it’s possible that it was an ableton sponsored video because it 100% was an interview type thing, he wasn’t just doing his own video like peeps do these days… and it’s possible he had a white MacBook, but without a doubt he used the oxygen 8…
this is maddening but it’s great to see all of these ableton clips I’ve watched over the years I think I was one of the first 5 people to start using Live in Los Angeles it’s crazy to see all these clips again from way back when since I started this search… love ableton to death
Unless you have some kind of AI helping you with the search I would probably use a looser set of search criteria and try to use the qualifiers people suggested about specific years. For terms I’d go with less descriptive and more factual like ableton tutorial or ableton workflow, ableton instruction. It will be more to sort through but if you think it was in 2005 search methodically by year from whatever you think would be the oldest date until the absolute outside of the newer videos. I think it will just be a lot of sifting. Basically, I don’t think you can find something by description unless it’s written under the title in the video description or has tags.
I was searching ableton oxygen 8 (insert year) in google for some dates from 2005 on up, didn’t see anything specific to this but a lot of the thumbnails shown are just of the daw screen.
Like @shigginpit I also like a good internet archaeology hunt. I had a good look around but didn’t turn up anything useful unfortunately …
If it’s likely to be that old I’d be surprised if it were on YouTube personally, early youtube days weren’t really about that kind of content, although it is possible. Might have just been self-hosted in which case it may have been lost to time. I did try the waybackmachine, which might turn something up with the right search, but I didn’t track down anything promising

In that case the video would have been made after May 2006, which was when the white MacBooks were launched.
This guy OSINTs ![]()
unless by MacBook the OP was broadly including the older G3/G4 iBooks
Youtube is dreadful regarding seach, you can tune the engine, but not much
I thought this was about Gears of Was for a second!
Ableton is a CIA op!
(Too deep of a cut?
)
yeah might be the ibook, vague possibility… the oxygen 8 midi controller is not though, that’s for sure.
lol
nope, wasn’t Henke, but I think it was someone ableton knew because they were interviewing them, the whole video was only about one subject though… it was only about using one sample to make the entire track, going through different sound design techniques to do so etc… … but no the guy had alot more hair than Henke
I’m just going to drop this definitely not the right track in this thread of old Youtubes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eU5Dn-WaElI
Ableton has long partnered with schools and educators, could it be associated with something like berklee school of music and not ableton directly? or do you feel like it had ableton “branding” like their “in house” productions as with some of the others that were posted?
