@gebild , forget the external compressor, swap your cables around.
Run the A4 in to the MD through A and B inputs, then sacrifice 2 machines for RAM-R1/R2 machines, turn up the cue volume and trig the RAM machine, the audio from analog4 will play through.
For years I was against this, but the MD compressor can be used to glue everything together nicely using parallel compression method described above.
Hmm. I thought of that at some point. But doesnât that mean that the whole signal will be digitally crunched down to 12bit?

The audio quality is acceptable, provided you have enough free sample RAM.
You could use the INP machines instead of the RAM machines which should be 24bit. I havenât compared them. I think the colouring only occurs during playback.
The RAM machines have a few advantages over INP.
Theres a neat trick with the RAM machines, where if you assign their output to external Outputs say E and F and use that as your monitor output, you can use the filters and effects on the RAM tracks to effect the entire MD mix.
