I have developed a live setup comprising an RD-9 and Norand mono. Both are fed in to an overdrive and delay pedal respectively. I now need to combine the 2 resulting mono outputs. A bit of EQ, saturation, master filter and compression would be nice. Any suggestions?

Not sure how your signal flow or workflow is, but I’d get me a cheap/used Mackie CR1604 or similar, hook up the individual outs from the RD-9 and the Norand with the Mackie’s inputs.
If you use the Mackie’s gains in a way that they clip they can deliver a nice saturation or even distortion. Then simply adjust the line faders. Plus you can EQ each channel indivually.
Not sure where the overdrive pedals are in your chain or what you do with them exactly, but I’d use the delay as a send with the mixer. Again, giving you control on how much delay you want on each channel.
The overdrives could be connected either linear (Instr.-Out > OD > Mixer-In) or even by abusing the mixer as a patchbay, if you want more flexibility.
Example:
- Instr.Out (e.g. CH01) > Mixer In
- Mixer’s any Direct Out > OD In.
- OD Out > Mixer In (e.g. CH16)
Not sure about other mixer manufacturers except Allen & Heath and Soundcraft which also have good gains. If Mackie, I’d go for a used pre-China-Made-in-USA one. The gain and the smear can be good for saturation.
