Live Record Mode and MIDI Transport

Does anyone know how to live record MIDI notes onto the sequencer without having the sequencer automatically start after hitting Rec+Play?

I have the OT set to accept MIDI transport from my DAW and it always starts when it’s supposed to; but I can’t get it to stay idle when going into Live Record mode - I need it to wait for the transport to trigger it.

Any tips?

@wGe23 I found a workaround with PREROLL, in metronome menu. Set it to 16 bars for instance.

Press Live + Rec (it waits end of preroll)
Start your DAW sequence before the 16 bars preroll.

I didn’t test it with a DAW, but with other hardware sequencers.
I hope it will suit you.

Nice, I’ll give that a shot! (Reads the manual on how to do that)

Just to be clear, is this ‘feature’ not there to begin with?

I remember that the AR and A4 had this automatic start thing happen as well; but on those machines, the chase light knew that the user wanted to start Live Recording on step 1, not just on any random step.

AFAIK no Live Recording standby for Elektrons.

Could you work by starting transport, toggling live record on the OT and then waiting to play whilst the pattern cycles ‘round?
