Live 10's cpu load halved when switching on AK...?!

Hardly a problem here, just something i came across that i find odd and wondered if any of you might know what’s going on. When checking something else, i came across this oddity:

Live 10’s cpu load (at idle, new ‘factory’ empty set) would halve when switching on the Analog Keys. I’m using Activity Monitor (macOS 10.13.6), not Live’s own cpu meter.

AK off = Live cpu load ~25% of total used
AK on = Live cpu load ~12.5% of total used

Disabling OB makes no difference. AK is not selected as a control surface.
Why would the AK affect Live’s cpu load? If anything i’d expect extra load, not half the load. As said, it’s no biggie at all. Just curious! Cheers

I’ve never noticed anything like that. I’m not using OB, though you said it makes no difference with OB on or off.

It probably makes sense to someone who knows what they’re looking at. Just not me…

Internal soundcard vs AK as the soundcard? Just guessing. That’s a weird one (in a good way)!

Yeah maybe Ableton switches to the AK as the audio interface? You could check that in the audio settings.

I’ve never seen Live auto-switch audio interfaces before - definitely isn’t happening here.

I noticed earlier that the AK was still in OB mode. Changing it to USB MIDI makes Live’s cpu rise again. Weird stuff!
