I recorded on track 6, then saved the recording to a static slot, but there is still a little ‘+’-sign next to the ‘play’ symbol under the ‘S’. Can’t find anything in the manual except “a plus sign means the track recorder or the Pickup machine of the track is recording.” I shouldn’t still be recording (the track is playing back fine) so why is the ‘+’ still there?
Track trigs and recording trigs are seperate. Hit function + Record (setup) remove the trig) exit. Might not be on the first step either, I’ve done that plenty of times by putting a record trig on a random trig by accident.
Thanks nedavine – I got it now. Went to TRACK TRIG EDIT menu and took the REC. TRIG off.
Little things like this can be very frustrating with the OT!
Sorry, just to clarify for my own records and anyone else reading,
- I went to the TRACK TRIG EDIT menu by hitting FUNCTION + BANK while Grid Recording was on
- Scrolled through the PATTERN PAGES to find the hidden recorder trig
- Held down the TRIG key while tapping both the RECORD buttons and the MIDI button for good measure, until the REC. TRIG was removed from the display
That works but you can just enter and remove Rec Trigs form the record setup page too (Function + Record A or B)
Thanks – I’ll try that next time!
yes, that was an epiphany for me on day two of owning an Octatrack :
When you are in ‘record mode’ (i.e. you can see the graphic of the tape machine) any trigs you enter are strictly ‘recording trigs’ and completely separate from the trigs you see when NOT in record mode.
