Life by XLN Audio

Been playing around with Life’s demo and it’s loads of fun. Curious to see this develop; for me i’d like a bit more control over the pace of loops. It’s either really quick or more sparse.

You can adjust all that with the density & syncopation knob, and even paint whatever you want into the sequencer directly :tada:

…xln’s xo and life became a pretty decent part of my workflow in bitwig…

and i was also a bit worried about that upload to cloud “analysis” part of life…
but in daily use and abuse, it’s no big deal and sure u can import anything from anywhere…
so all ur sounddlib on ur computer can easily chime in to get mingled up and it is indeed a great tool for nice results of many many kinds…far beyond rhythmical results “only”…
and as mentioned here already, sure u can use it for totally random stuff, but u also can nail it down precisely to what u want it to do…

dunno what pricetag u get these days, but if it’s under that 100 bux i paid for it, it’s defenitly a no brainer…

Thank you, for some reason when I checked on the site it said for live 10 and 11 but didn’t mention 12

missed the sale again, too busy working on the house. Shame, since I can’t justify €150. Would cop for €75 probably.

Wait you mean to tell me XLN implemented a sample import feature in life, even allowed drag n drop but………… it won’t work without being connected to the internet?? I can understand for using the recorded app thingamajiggy, but if you’re not even using the cloud for anything why do you have to go through this?

are my nerves the only nerves bothered by this or is it actually working like you would think for the rest of you?

There was a lot of fuss about this when it was released (and some very dodgy original terms saying they could use your uploads!) but it all seems to have died down now- either people are happy with it and use it or they don’t! Scroll back to the original release (here and KVR) for all the original drama!

I remember the terms drama but that’s not what I’m talking about… I never planned to use it with the phone app or cloud, I bought it because they said that you could just import your own samples in the program… but every time I try to do so I get a message telling me that I can’t do it cause I’m not connected to the net wtf

Yes, this was part of the initial drama- no way to import without sharing with XLN (and obviously without internet). The original terms (I believe they changed this after the feedback/riot!) were ‘’…the Customer grants to XLN Audio… a license to …use…all Created Music Work… generated by the Customer in connection with the use of the Software.’’

PS- I still bought it- my DAW is connected to the Internet and here hasn’t been any issues AFAIK.

yeah I didn’t care about them using the samples issue… but I guess I glossed over the import part :frowning: … I never connect my music computer to the net… oh well I will contact xln maybe get a refund

Life by XLN Audio is back on sale until June 3rd. 40% off. Is $89.40 the lowest it’s been?

More or less. Intial sale was 30% off, this one is 40% off. Lowest recorded price is $79 at Thomann, but that has yet to be repeated. Theoretically, that makes me think that it could be 50% off on BF.

Does Life support stereo samples?

Does the Life Recorder app support stereo recording if using an audio interface with a mobile device?

Tip: It’s $79 again at Thomann DE. Edit: JRRshop is $74.59 with coupon code “GROUP”.

Just got a notification that v1.2 of this is out. The important news for some folks is that it allows offline use now:

  • Added support for being offline when adding files.
  • Added option for turning off cloud syncing entirely.

There are 2 plugins i wish they would exist in hardware. One is Serum, the other XLN Life - each with 3+ instances in one box.

I forget how useful this app is! Much better at slicing and chopping than Breadslicer Pro or Chop Beast, albeit more expensive than the other two. Rediscovering it again!
