I don’t think this is possible, but maybe i am wrong?
I have an pseudo quadraphonic installation which works like this:
Two mono tracks on two inputs of my nord modular g2. The Nord translates these two tracks randomly to a pseudo quadraphonic track. I patched the nord to switch to a randomly chosen output (the nord has 4 outputs) on a quiet moment in a track.
It would be nice to let the OT do that (smaller setup), but i don’t think the OT can do this type of decision making. Or am i missing some clever tricks?
I think it should be something like this:
2 long samples on 2 tracks (static machines)
samples are trigged by a sequence
when a sample has a quiet moment, i’d like the OT to randomly change the output port (A,B,C,D) or at least the BAL parameter to -64 or +64.
You are correct. The OT has no interesting level-sensing capability (apart from, arguably, the compressor effect) and certainly no logic-based modulation.
Seemingly, whenever I get interested in a new piece of gear with some elaborate feature I think “Ah, but I can already do that with my NMG2”, and the GAS is dissipated.
Thanks for your reply. Guess i know the OT well enough after four months to know what it can and can’t do
I have the same with the NMG2, for years now it’s my main piece of hardware. Together with the OT its realy flexible. I only have a Kaosspad (KP2) and a small mixer next to them.
