Legato No Go-Go

Having a few troubles with the A4 and Ableton Live. I have a clip, a simple 4 note pattern and the notes are Legato, so when one finishes the next end

Yet, when I play back the clip with the A4 I just get a series of very short blips with maybe the odd full note being triggered every now and again as expected.

Any ideas what might the cause of this? If I program the same notes in the A4 sequencer then they play fine, and if I shorten the notes in Live then they play, and if I lengthen them then they also play - well the last 3 do, the first one plays the first time round and then doesn’t sound.

Really frustrating as I’m trying to use Push to program patterns in the Note Sequencer and this issue is stopping me getting anywhere.

So I figured maybe it has to do with USB Midi. I disconnected the USB cable and connected up a midi lead and… Problem solved.

Really surprised by this. I would imagine that USB would be more solid than just Midi but clearly not. I wonder if this is an A4 issue or USB Midi issue?

Only problem I have now is not enough Midi channels - transmitting via USB freed them up.

If it’s not one problem it’s another.
