This news applies to " Launchpad Pro MK1 or MK3, Launchpad MK2, Launchpad X, or Launchpad Mini MK3", otherwise I would have just posted to the Launchpad Pro thread.
I guess for a DAW-less/standalone setup you’ll need to get a Raspberry Pi and install PD on that. I see now that you can buy a premade Raspberry Pi enclosure for as little as $10, which shows how little I know about that scene. I’d always assumed I’d have to hack my own.
If you’re not interested in the Organelle’s portability then it seems like a Launchpad + PISound box would be a compelling alternative. Curious what the differences/limitations would be.
I’m not in the Pd world but it’s definitely something I wanna try at some point. Seems like lots of innovation is out there- all the more reason to hold off until the next cool thing is released
quite a few things, but obvious thing would be no display or pots.
these are pretty useful, unless you are building quite a specific instrument.
Id probably go for a Zynthian if you don’t want the Organelles portability/keyboard.
?
there’ll always be the ‘next cool thing’ to follow, you’ll never get anything done if you keep waiting for it…
I’d say the opposite, these things open up possibilities for NOW using what you already have.
a good reason to stop thinking about ‘what next’, and rather use what you have today
thanks for the recommendation! will definitely check it out as a former programmer I want to support this cool open-source community that exists in the synth world
ETA: looks affordable and powerful! One of the reasons for my previous post was because I wanted to learn more about this community, thanks again for sharing
Yes I could’ve worded that better and maybe included a - face instead
This is where I was trying to come from. Instead of deciding if I need an Organelle or a PIsound box or a Zynthian or a DN or a Virus or a … or a … or a … I need to use the tools I have today. The benefit of holding off on GAS is that more cool gear is released in the meantime. I agree though, once a “need” is established then go for it so you can get back to creating I’m present with the amount of time I’ve spent online shopping recently that has taken away from my productivity and enjoyment with music
