Korg nts-3 kaoss pad

Here comes a new update:

It’s constantly recording live sound, then processes that sound through various algorithms – repeat, robotize, time stretch, a vinyl-style stop, and more. You customize the four algorithms you want, then trigger via the four zones on the XY pad, with up to 9 algorithms for each zone.

And then the are the big features in V1.1. Sinevibes added three new algorithms: Reverse, Rewind, and Scratch, plus revised default settings (loop, reverse, stretch, and stop).

OK - so I have had a few breakthroughs in the last 48hrs. I have been running my Perkons headphone out into the NTS-3 and then my headphones into the NTS-3. I am using HD650’s and despite the higher impedance this little unit handles them just about.

I found a superb effect using Isolator and Delay which can create superb stereo transitions. Just a few tweaks to up the FX Release time, bring down the depth and it’s great for changing Perkons patterns.

I have to say I am really starting to see how powerful this is and its such great value for money. I just wish they had programmed the reverbs better!

The more I use it, the more I think that its strength lies in its tweakability using Korg Kontrol Editor.

The FX themselves might not be the best - although they do their job pretty well most of the time - but it’s great to be able to chain FX slots as you wish, and assign anything to either X, Y or depth (or combinations of those). As far as I know, you could not do that with earlier KP’s.

And, yeah, for this price and form factor.

A bonus would be more user-designed effects - like Sinevibe’s - because I imagine they could go pretty wild with so much flexibility. I’m sorry I don’t know anything about programming.
