Korg nts-1 mk2

NTS Volca would indeed make way more sense for everyone. Just not for Korg I guess.

Anyone who bought a Volca before would probably buy one unless Korg screws it up with pricing.

Oh that would be really cool, a volca bass or keys with logue sdk oscillator and fx :flushed:

Can’t you just use any portable battery to power it via usb?

Yeah sure you just have to bring a battery, which is probably going to be at least the same size as the nts and double the weight.

not sure if there was when you have posted this, but on Thomman it’s 135 eur. and available in few months.

Asking the plugin devs to port their work (which is the main reason people bought this product) to a MK2 version which addresses not much of the predecessors weaknesses and generally isn’t adding much value is a bold move. Hopefully it’s just about adjusting some imports and recompiling it or so.

Wish they would put out a solid logue host box with TRS I/O, Midi I/O some knobs. So you can bring your own sequencer or use it as an X box as you see fit.

Could even put out a host app plugin or iOS app

I agree, more missed opportunities from Korg. The decisions they have made in their latest round of updated hardware are IMO, weak and questionable. The only one that appeals to me is the nts-3 kaoss. I could have been in the market for a MK2 Wavestate or Modwave but too little done for too much of a price hike.

Their initial plan was to provide some kinda platform where others can build upon. Have a look at what they did back then at NAMM 2020: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W8DCSkkZyx8

But it seems like others didn’t wanted to take the risk for something commercial because they would be dependent on Korg. Or Korg just overestimated the interest of makers in this platform. Maybe because it was proprietary in its core. I haven’t seen a single project in the wild. Not even DIY. I mean, they even published the sources of some software and hardware. It’s documented here: https://korginc.github.io/nts-1-customizations/

I was waiting for a dedicated ā€œLogue-SDK effects boxā€ for years. But the NTS-3 would degrade the high quality effects available for the NTS-1 to some ā€œperformance tool addonā€ without precise controls, presets etc. It has its use case but it’s kinda tragic how they missed this opportunity.

Im sleeping on this.

Looks like it’s shipping in the EU and UK. Ā£165 is a bit steep for me for now though, even though the mk1 is one of my favourite bits of kit.

Just got my hands on one. I do miss the plugins i have for mk1 though

I’m wondering when Sinevibes come up with the new plugs ported to the mk2 this summer

Already did it.

Also, great things here:

Been a little quiet on this one lately. I went and put the acidbass synth plugin into the OSC slot

Quick little demo of it here: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=vazs66P-K90

I’ll see if i can get a better performance recorded of it with the Drumlogues

Sounds great

Put a kick behind that and you’re about done

Hey! I’ve gone and built another plugin.
This time I decided to put a full synth engine with 4 voices in the OSC slot of the NTS-1 mkii:
https://payhip.com/b/zXEHp

2 oscillators, hp/lp filter, 2 simplified envelopes, some modulation targets
It’s a challenge getting all the parameters you need to fit into the 10 available slots
So C0mp4ct seemed a fitting name.

I have set a price on this one, €5, but I’ve got a 100% off intro coupon here for you, good for 2 weeks: ELEKTRONAUTS

There’s a guy I know in the community that does a lot of cool things for the logue units:

Gerard Braad, here’s one of his synths:

Also some drum synth units etc

thanks David for the heads up. I have posted a lot on gbraad.itch.io, but also still have a lot unpublished. The RS1/RD1 are under development, but portable to Ableton Move. The NT-78 shows it is actually quite capable.

But for me, I like to make stuff that can ensure your sound/creation can be played anywhere, without worries you have to bounce samples. I prefer stuff remains mutable, like a vector drawing, … Not having to share pixel/faster images that are fixed and can not be modified anymore.
