Korg Drumlogue

You mean micro timing? It has that.

planet elektro built in pattern sounded … a bit … terrible… (its on the loopop vid)
i think it was supposed to be planet rock .
the 3 beats from Slic above sounded quite nice/speedy J.public energy ish… (mostly due to the stereo distortion)

overall … it’ll be dropped to $149 when/if they release the vst…
disappointing with no surprises and very little innovation.

I just saw perkons sonic state vid - more my style though I’m sure drumalogue might go into similar territory.

I just bought a Syntakt (again) yesterday, then saw this released this morning and got buyers remorse for like 5 seconds. Drumlogue looks pretty dope. I was ready to buy one when it was announced in 2020.
Definitely looking forward to trying one of these in the shop. Pairing one of these with an XD would be super tight.

Oh thanks for the heads up.

However, we’re all different.

The whole fun of the Volca Drum was for me the Resonator, which the LXR-02 doesn’t have.

I think the LXR-02 is so desired because all the demos sound like mean Industrial, and the Syntakt’s didn’t. Meanwhile I am able to do everything the LXR-02 does with my Syntakt, but better and meanerer.

And then, I really hope Syntakt doesn’t get Sampling, just because I want other features.

The intro music in Loopop’s Drumlogue video had me laughing out, because it sounds so much like like 90’s Soundblaster General Midi at first ear. Maybe such demos will make thing sell like crazy, perhaps at least to everyone who is subscribed to LGR.

… just my opinions! …

Yep and it’s called Offset on the Drumlogue.

To be fair out of the big 5 groovebox manufacturers - Roland, Korg, Elektron, Akai, Novation - Elektron and Korg are leading the way WRT sequencer functions, and actually as of 2022 Korg with SQ64 and Drumlogue have the most stepwise variety:
P-locks/motion seq*
Probability*
Micro timing/offset*
Ratchets/retrig*
Step count/polymeter*
Scale divide*
Trig conditions/iteration*
Direction (not certain if Drumlogue has this, SQ64 has)
Loop jump

*Elektron also has these.

I think the E2 offers more bang-for-buck: i.e. more voices, more flexibility, it’s more intuitive, and I personally think it sounds better overall. Here’s hoping the street price is comparable at least, otherwise…

Cheers!

The looo certain steps function is s cool idea.

What about a fart? Would that sound great? Better than this new Korg?

Did I just throw down a new challenge? Am I farting into my microphone as I type? Am I saving $600 by sampling/chopping all these Drumlogue demos at a furious pace as they are released?

Am I the baddie?

Thanks for naming my next album.

This could be a pretty potent snare? It’s very hi-fi Freesound - Fart32.wav by Jagadamba

What about Polyend? The Play has a pretty interesting sequencer that does all that, and some more…

And what’s with the lack of MIDI Thru?
Same handicap on the E2… Very frustrating.

Why doesn’t anyone adhere to standard MIDI spec anymore (rhetorical question)?

Cheers!

$600 will get you a Polyend Tracker or even an ARP 2600 (if you’re not anti-behringer).

But what if I told you for the very same price you could have a device with:
4 mediocre analog sounds.
Barely enough sample time for a few percussion kits.
And a NTS-1 hot glued to the side of it, but wait, it’s polyphonic!

 sorry, couldn’t resist one more crack at this easy target.

Yeah there are a few others too like Deluge, OP-Z, Squarp, Toraiz Squid, and others, but I was just talking about the big 5 manufacturers though.

Underrated comment! Seriously, the other 'logues have wonderful scopes.

$150 less than I spent on my 2nd second-hand OT MK1, for some perspective.

We are all different, indeed.

I agree the resonator is a great feature, and I’ve been able to get a very similar vibe with the LXR’s delay. Short delays and playing with the range/time sounds very alike, and if you put one or two LFO’s in the delays parameters sounds dope. Even subtle changes in the Morph function can achieve that kind of alive/organic-electronic thing of the resonator.

As much as I like heavy/extreme music, I’m not much into that kind of ā€œeverything distortedā€ sound in electronic beats as in many of the LXR’s demos; that’s where the device tends to go, but its clean side is very nice as well. For me the freely asignable LFO’s, Kit Morph and 4 outputs did the trick …And I love the faders for performing, which is something that I didnĀ“t consider necessary before having them in a box (mostly Elektrons and Korgs here).

Anyway I’m glad I won’t be tempted with the Drumlogue, and won’t be selling the Volca Drum for now.
