Koala Sampler App

What’s the new controller?

Can I stream audio via usb and process it with the AuVs?

Synido TempoPad C16 - got an extra £5 off with the “ask for a better price” thing that Juno do

OMG I can now sample/resample with AUv3s in standalone! This is huge. Now I only wish for a skipback and option to use controller or SP-404 MKII knobs for editing samples.

Haven’t actually tried but I imagine that anything you put on the master bus will probably affect the incoming signal. Will check though

You can map sample start/end to a controller if that helps

Looks like the Mac App Store version also hosts VST3 and CLAP plugins. Not relevant to me since I’m currently all-in on Ableton and haven’t installed any plugins since my last OS reinstall, but I’ve got some Sinevibes and Audio Damage licenses that I may have to dust off… oh, and VCV Rack.

All in all this is a very cool update! The instrument support is particularly compelling — I’ve been meaning to take Outgrowth for a spin but never got past idle noodling. Koala is one of the easiest environments for me to explore an idea (and by far the easiest on mobile since I lost my Loopy Pro muscle memory).

Dang, this update has me considering grabbing a Synido wireless midi controller and letting go of my MPC Live 3 and MPC Sample.

Loopy Pro hosted in Koala might manage that!

I didn’t really understand your answer. I’m interested in showing my Syntakt as an input in the mixer and trowing AuV on it live processing the sound

I was going to chime in with this, until I couldn’t actually find it listed in the koala auv3 list. Anyone see it on theirs? (No ‘loopy pro’ or ‘A Tasty Pixel’ that I can see…

Now if apple finally would bring back a device with headphone jack. Or at least develop low latency bluetooth audio. Please!!

Wireless anything is about convenience, not performance. I wouldn’t use Bluetooth for anything other than basic noodling.

It shows up if you load it onto a pad, but not as an effect in the mixer.

But it can’t receive audio, or at last I can’t work out how to do it

I’ve put Audio Damage Circa on the Master as looper - works like a charm

Maybe you can do this using the Mic bus effect

I won’t get chance to experiment before the weekend but am happy to try it out then

Older iPhones or iPads still can handle Koala like charm

Might get a bit toasty though.

Anyone know how to do this please:

Automate knobs for AUv3’s inside Koala.

Using either Koala standalone or a combo of apps etc.

Interested in the various different methods, pros and cons.

Having AUv3’s in Koala now is great, for sure. But what are the differences from hosting Koala in AUM, for instance, and using AUv3’s in AUM instead?

I tried some plugins and immediately thought of this.
Koala now needs a way to record AUv3 automation and also midi from the AUv3 piano roll.
For example I have some SWAM plugins that have a piano roll which can do pitch bends (MPE ?) and it is a part of the sound of the instrument and I have no way to record it as midi in Koala’s patterns.
