Ha! Not sure how deleting would work on a physical unit like that though!
My main issue with Koala is how easy it is to get something done. I’m recently so productive on it that I look at my Sp-404 and MPC differently…
When I started with hardware my view of the DAW changed from a place where music is finished to a tool to sound design and feed my other devices (DT, Force, MPC, 404 etc)
Perhaps Koala is where you’ll start things because of its ease and accessibility, then feed the physical instruments?
Probably not as bad as using that playdate hand crank to set start and end points……
Heads up the updates live and it fixed the issue!
So I just gave it a test and there’s no sync coming from the AR to Koala. I didn’t see an app update either on the Playstore. do you have any more infos?
The fact that I can sample, chop, arrange, mix and export a beat while sipping my coffee on the sofa is pure joy.
I’m actually a bit of an iOS noob still, despite using it for quite some years now –
What’s the best way to import samples to Koala? Do you somehow drag and drop from a Mac, or … uh, how do you do it?
You can use iCloud folders or AudioShare
I use iCloud folders… I looked into audioshare and though I didn’t buy it, so far as I could tell it didn’t offer much over iCloud folders.
Audioshare is definitely the easiest.
On my iPad, I can just plug in a USB thumb drive and use the ‘Files’ app. It’s a file browser. I believe I can do the same on my iPhone 15 as well.
Getting files onto your device isn’t nearly as hard as it once was.
Thanks people, will look into these in depth
If you put stuff in your iCloud folder you can just add it to the browser in Koala. That gives you a preview and multiple select option too.
thanks man, updating now
Update on my custom Koala keyboard. I bought a few sets of used key caps cheap, and I’ve added some to make the layout easier to read.
For example, the red 0 key is record, the pale blue keys (in Koala blue) mark the scene selection keys. Yellow enters edit mode, and the other blue PRT SC key toggles keyboard mode.
I added the line of TGBN both to mark off the 4x4 grid of sample pads on the left, and also to mark B and N (mute and solo).
It’s a bit of an explosion in a paint factory, but it works. And the different-sized caps also help differentiate by feel.
Certainly looks like it does … nice work.
That looks great
I can confirm the update from this week fixed sync with external clock. Tested with a digitone keys and a syntakt and both work as intended (connected over usb c apple connection to a current gen Ipad pro). Glad that he turned that around quickly!
you can hold a “pad” and record with your phone mic, too. you can whip up something real goofy real quick with your mouth, fingers and your phone mic. …even just as proof of concept
