I’m never gonna stop grabbing the Level Encoder thinking I’m reaching for Encoder A.

A way around this I can see helping is to swap out the Level knob for an identical one, but in a different colour, ideally black.

Does anyone know where those soft-touch knobs are sold or what the exact part number is, or a very comparable one ? Before I ask Elektron …

If I could only even source a spare grey one i’d use permanent ink on it to differentiate it !

Get something that is shaped different would help too!

I’m not sure this is the correct size (6mm)

Or if shape doesn’t matter you could get the knob upgrade from Elektron.

Here’s another:

You just need to know the dimensions of the length and width of the shafts. Search “d-shaft knob”

It´s possible to buy black upgrade knobs from elektron that exist for the MD/MM (if you got the old plastic knobs but rather want rubber ones, i e same as the OT/A4).

From over at the EU board:

Not sure if he’s still making them.

thanks all, and thanks udenjoe for the links/info, i was hoping to keep it in europe, uk ideally, for the pricing - i saw the bespoke knobs from another thread today and found the elektron ones earlier too - although there’s too many of them anyway, they’d be of interest if they came with 2 of the dotted ‘Volume’ caps (aot 1), then i’d swap out both Levels and both Volumes from my A4 and OT so that only the Encoders on each were grey - i definitely want to keep it to the same product/dimensions - black would do the required trick perfectly !

Hey Avantronica - if we get that filter upgrade in the A4 OS I’ll gladly send you a black upgrade knob as your surprise gift - I’ve got a bunch of the MnM ones - they should do the trick right?

I emailed him weeks ago about knobs and trig buttons and haven’t heard anything back :frowning:

Perhaps the solution is as simple as a brightly-colored rubber band?

:joy:  :joy: please tell me u r uk based
i would’ve refused your gift, graciously, but i’d be lying if i said i wasn’t a bit interested now - i’d be jumping with joy if they were soft-touch ones, but i guess that’s why you upgraded ! having said that, i might get back to you if all other avenues fail - thanks for thought tho :+1:

I thought of that, but even this temp solution isn’t smart or effective enough …

I have a full set of the official MnM soft touch ones - and I kid you not, wait a few days for the OS release and I’ll send you a couple no worries - if we don’t get the filter thingy, we can negotiate

I was thinking that if you wrapped the band around a few times it would give that knob a different feel and your hand would learn it without looking.

christmas might’ve just come early ! #wecannegotiate

fwiw: i’d ideally replace both Level knobs and both Volume knobs (dotted) for the OT and AF respectively, so only the Encoders were grey on both (i’m analog that way) and i would want to square you up for that - however, anything which helps solve the problem, be it 1 or 2 plain encoders, is a welcome bit of hope

in all seriousness, it’d be no good for you to end up with an incomplete part set that you couldn’t shift on !!

maybe, over time, i’d learn, but i’d hate to look at it  - this sticker is bugging me already !

The set has just become incomplete because I’ve just implemented your excellent idea

I bought the kit in error - my used MnM already came with the upgraded knobs so I’ll be really glad to have these put to good use - I have lots of bits and bobs of components lying around and I’m not precious at all about them - if they can go to a good home where they’ll be loved and used then it’s better than sitting in a box wondering why they ain’t being twisted.
I’m a man of my word - and I enjoy the sport of a little wager - let’s wait till the OS drops then we’ll sort something out one way or another - really, don’t buy anything till then…

that does look bloomin’ good tho

Note to everyone - go easy on the swapsies, there is a thread on e-u about broken encoder shafts !!! yhbw

Yearp - make sure you use even pressure straight up and try to anchor the encoder cap on both sides with fingers of your other hand to ensure a straight lift
