This is my first topic, thought I’d post it since I didn’t see anything on here yet. Let me know if I messed up and this should go into an existing Kingkorg topic!
Thanks for sharing!
This is interesting. I remember when the King Korg was first released that people were hoping for a smaller or module version of it. So much time has passed since then, but perhaps better late than never? I notice it seems to be in the Opsix/Modwave/Wavestate format. Hopefully the build is better, because those felt… not great. Fingers crossed!
MicroKorg 2 I guess it’s sequel day
Feels comparable to the Gaia 2. Going for a nostalgia to a product that was never beloved to begin with.
King korg neo seems neat. MicroKorg 2… you know what they say about “if it aint broke, don’t fix it”, feels like a market grab based on its predecessor’s long term success. Hard to say though, I’m judging without looking too deeply into it, could be very well implemented.
Yeah, it looks like the same keyboard. Didn’t they hear everybody screeching?
Hopefully the keyboard action has been improved.
Wait, wait, wait. You mean to tell me they took a 20+ year old synth engine, redesigned the layout (finally!), and that’s it???
I LOATHE the Microkorg. Those minikeys and matrix editor make me wanna chuck things, and I’m someone who doesn’t mind programming a synth from a 2x16 LCD and one rotary encoder. The sound engine is fine (for a 20+ year old synth), and really I always wanted the Microkorg to be more like it’s big brother the MS2000. However, people love these damn things, and it is likely the best selling keyboard ever. So the update is welcome, and it does look cool… even if a bit late…
EDIT: I missed the loop recorder. Cool.
microKorg seems like it could’ve at least used aftertouch. Does korg make their own keybeds for these?
edit: neither have aftertouch, poly or otherwise… granted I think global aftertouch might as well be mapped to an expression pedal
and lay in them.
kingkorg is probably nice for easy/portable live use especially bc korg’s fx sound awesome as hell
it might make sense if you’re in a band and it’s around like $500
Whoa the Neo is coming in around $1,000?
Accurate beats says it’s the same form factor (read: same keyboard) as the wavestate, Modwave and OpSix, all synths that were notably cheaper including a sweet deal of $329 for the OpSix for a short while.
That’s a pretty premium price for what I remember from my Modwave and OpSix is not really a premium product.
Microkorg refresh is actually more interesting to me here, but the retail on those is already high, so I’m curious what they’ll start this one at.
Has anybody here bought a microkorg new?
$1,000 makes the Roland Gaia 2 look like a steal

uh oh something is on its way to the direct-to-bad-gear pipeline
and it’s around like $500
Buuuuut it won’t be.
Korg… You’re in 2014 with 2034 prices.
I really want them to pull a solid win, but price/feature ratio has been out of whack for a while.
I work in music retail, and I am still shocked at how many of these things get sold new every year. They are EVERYWHERE, and yet we keep selling them.
Even with their flagship synthesizers, the Prologue having one LFO was a travesty.
Guitar center is showing the US list price at $999
RIP to my gas
I’ll catch them on the Reverb Korg Warehouse fire sale.
Side note, I still do want one of those OPSIX SE’s, but at $1,600 I’m still out, those should be $999.
Jeezuss
I guess everyone has a photo of Pharrell holding one posted up on their wall or something.
Microkorg the legend returns
I’m interested in the new interface, the screen looks like a really nice upgrade
Probably out based on the pricing tho
It’s also god ugly
