Keystep Pro vs Digitakt as Synth Sequencer

A ways back I sold my machinedrum to fund a Digitakt purchase. This is because, as much as I loved my machinedrum, I really needed something that could do drums as well as sequence my external synths (both hard and soft synths). Currently pairing my Digitakt with a Keystep.

The Keystep pro however looks like everything I’ve always wanted in a sequencer /midi keyboard. So much so that I’m considering selling my Digitakt and Keystep to fund the purchase of a machinedrum and KP. I’m not too worried about losing the Digitakt’s sampling ability, since I can have the KP sequence Simpler in Ableton if I really wanted samples.

Would I be missing out on any major sequencing functionality if I made this switch?

I don’t know about the Keystep Pro but to me the Digitakt midi sequencing is painfull. It’s ok to triger one shot sound but to make a melodie on it it’s a lot of work.

Simple question: If you manage to use ableton, why not sequence midi from your computer ?
It’s waay more easy and visual feedback.

Really? I always found it to not be too hard. Hold down a step, play a chord on your external keyboard, repeat on the next step and so on. I believe the key step works the same way.
