Wondering what others may be doing? Has anyone got a slick.way of detecting note for a Rytm track? Maybe a Max device or VST?
Can the AR help with this in any way that I haven’t found yet? Do most just do it by ear?
Would be great to be able to set the AR in a key for synth sounds. Tuning could then jump through notes in the scale .
I just have a synth with a default sawtooth open in Reaper and play the note on a keyboard and tune it by ear.
Yeah, am trying to do by ear as much as possible, but I discovered my sound interface has a tuner that can live on top of ableton,. This detect the note or anything playing through ableton, so now have that detecting my AR notes for each track one by one.
Nothing worse than a baseline out of key with the kick drum!
I’ve have a guitar tuner (tc electronic polytune mini) hooked up to my soundcard/mixer and it’s been great for keeping track of tuning on external gear.
By ear using a reference tone works fine for instruments but for drums and other low frequency sources I find it ridiculously hard. And pitch sweep settings on the Analog Rytm bass drums does not exactly make tuning easier… 
I do use a plugin sometimes if I need to. I have the Melda free effects bundle (i have the upgraded versions actually) and apart from some of the best modulation effects, the utilities that come with it are great as well.
