Hello forumfriends,
My kaosspad3 returned to my arms reach. so its fun times.
Here is kinda what happends in the following two video’s
on track 1 to 4, Samples are played which are routed to the cue-out.
the cue-outs go into the koasspad3. After mangling, the sounds return
to inputs A-B of the octatrack.
where they are recorded into a few recorders and played back on track 5 and 6… various triggers and scene’s dictate how the recorded sounds are played back, causing glitches.
the scene’s also dictate how track 1-4 behave, changing things like lfo or volume, so it keeps on changing.
Track 7 plays back some sample that doesn’t go into the kaosspad. (so you always hear something, even if I mangled the sounds into oblivion on the kaosspad and or the flextracks)
track 8 functions as mastertrack, for some compression and reverb.
I like to drown my sounds into big reverbs while I make minimal-glitch-ambient.
Enjoy:
always inspiring to see & hear what you’re doing and how. so different from anything i would think up, it always motivates me to break out of the box and try new approaches. thanks for the vids and setup description!

Totally agree
Thank you, its always nice to be appreciated.
May I be curious? how would you connect your kaospad/mfx unit?
as in, what do I do that’s so different then your approach? it might bring me to some corner of the elektron-universe I haven’t seen/found yet.
The third session in this setup… Same idea, difrent sounds, difrent triggers, difrent endresult… always funny
enjoy…

Sure, though it’s pretty straightforward … I just use the KP3 as a loop sampler and occasional effects processor downstream from the OT’s main outs. (Mostly I find it’s good for transitions at gigs because the sample pads’ sound quality is excellent, but doesn’t require any elaborate setup or track sacrificing on the OT.) Most of the time my internal resampling of the OT output is for loop remixing, as the fader manipulates the effects DJ-style … fun but not nearly as glitchy
Ah like that… fair enough…
In my old studio, I had the kaosspad on a sub-bus of my mixer.
and kinda used it like you are describing. (I did not have an octatrack then, but replace octatrack with mc909)…
These days however, No room for a giant kick-ass mixer on the kitchen-table. and the misses likes my company… So I have to make due with the toys I can simultaneously fit on the kitchentable. (and that’s including her, and her laptop).
Hence, I came up with combining what I could do with the cue-out in combi with the realtime recording tricks I have been working on…
The only problem I ran into uptill this point:
I can do the weirdest realtime recording trickery I can come up with, aslong as I don’t play anything “in the future/not recorded yet” it works for all inputs and tracks, except the cue … if I record that one, my trickery doesn’t work flawless… I keep playing stuff “ahead of the recording buffer” while on the other tracks, if things are setup properly it will stay just behind the “recording head”.
I hope I can figure out what I do wrong, because I think I can do 1 step glitchier… that be the bomb.
