When all the tracks are armed and running sometimes the note’s in my leads are cut short… It only seems to happen when most or all of the triggers are armed on the opposing tracks… Was just curious if anyone else has come across this problem… Just wasn’t sure if its a hardware or software problem??? Maybe a factory reset???
When using polyphony this will happen as you are using multiple engines (max=4) turn it off and all tracks will play fine. Hope that helps!
You will learn the way around chords with A4 (if you want to maintain multiple tracks) is playing with the fifth and detuning an Osc.
Yes the Analog 4 is great indeed however an Analog 8 would be cool IMO
Maybe Elektron could do a voice upgrade or build an A8.
Rob
try a bit of delay or reverb on each track- seems to help with the overlap and give a bit of blending
hold seems to work well also
or you could lower the bpm and make up poly jams on the fly for each 5th step or so
or just go ahead and record when you reach the limits into abelton and start a new track - rinse and repeat
i assume overbridge will help with overcoming the 4 poly city limits, as such with recording each track and multitrack seamlessly from there
good luck and enjoy the A4, its a wonderfully modern but vintage sounding poly. As i always say, the best in the land!!
It’s amazing how much you can get out of 4 voices with these things- with the multitimbrality, and the voice stealing as fast as it is, and delay, it can sound like many more than just four.
Cool thanks guys… I was certain it was some weird limitation… Just really happy the thing isn’t screwed up… Now I just have to slam my head against it for a couple more months, figure out the work around… Like I was saying, I am really happy with the A4… The work flow is awesome very hands on… Some of my other gear there is alot of setup involved but in live performances, not much… The A4 there is always something to do… Loving it.
Just wondering if anyone has any good tips for a newbie???
best tip is to upload all the sound packs and buy the floppy disk patch sets
load up a 101, 303, juno pad and examine the settings as they are really like stock patches from those lovely old roland machines
sometimes is nice take off one osc or bring down the osc levels as this helps to smooth out the sound
also purchase the drum pack and plock drums via multi mode and just start recording plocks
if you dont have a midi keyboard get one with a joystick and extend the workflow of A4
Tip: understand Elektron’s file management to avoid losing sounds/kits/sequences as a new user. It’s easy to start a new pattern and find you have changed the kit/sounds in a previous pattern/kit. Although not the best method – saving a kit per pattern/bank can ensure you don’t accidently erase or change a kit/sound to begin with. I’m sure people will have developed other methods.
I reckon, start at the start.
Get A4 cookbook.
Watch Seenfromspace tutorials.
Practice as much as your lifestyle allows.
Follow this forum.
Take notes.
Have fun.
Oh, and watch Cenk and Cuckoo.
Parameter locks are your friend. Also, buy another analog synth and run it through the A4 effects to do your leads (just an excuse for more gear).
I’m having a blast with the A4. The “limitations” are making me approach my music in a fresh new way.
Also run the external synth through a voice and use the filters as well! discovered some good squelch when running my Volca Beats through it!
Guess you already meant that anyway, damondarkwalker!
