Jogging House - Sender - Tonverk ambient album

Dear Elektronauts,

‘Sender’ is an ambient album made entirely on the Tonverk, using samples from my Kalimba only. It consists of six calm longform pieces that were recorded straight to 1/4" tape in single takes.

Working with limitations is what’s most inspiring to me, but at the same time, the Tonverk is so powerful that I still feel I only scratched the surface. I tried to approach it differently than I would use the Digitakt. Especially when it comes to layering/resampling effects and of course playing sounds polyphonically. I was really surprised how different these two samplers feel irl. (The album was made on FW 1.20 btw)

While I enjoy all kinds of music making, these longer compositions are especially fulfilling to me. I just love feeling out a track while the tape is spinning. Making many subtle changes and letting the sounds evolve over time. There are videos for each track that I will post on youtube over the next weeks, the first one is live already:

This release is also a collaboration with my wonderful friends at Elektron. They will share a video walkthrough of that first track in the near future (I believe next week) and possibly some additional content, too.

‘Sender’ is available digitally and on cassette. Downloads are name-your-price for one week and cassettes are ready to ship. Elektron also has a batch of cassettes.

I hope you enjoy the music. If you have any questions about the album, just ask away.

Thank you!

Hi what Kalimba do you use? I like that yours has a 1/4 output.

It‘s an eKalimba from Patch Point Berlin. They have become quite pricey, I bought mine a long time ago. But I do love it a lot.
